A Bûche de Noël (or Yule log) is a dessert cake popular during the winter and specially at Christmastime.

Made from a sponge cake that is baked in a shallow pan, it is then frosted, rolled to form a log shape and then frosted again on the outside.

If you're dreaming of a White Christmas, may we suggest a Dufflet Bûche de Noël in Lemon Cherry Pistachio?

Light pistachio sponge cake is rolled with lemon buttercream and sour cherries, then wrapped in a sheet of pure white chocolate and garnished with a cherry jelly and gold dust.

Dufflet Rosenberg shares why Dufflet Pastries supports this event every year.

From their website ...

"Willow Breast Cancer Support Canada’s annual fundraising gala, Eat to the Beat, features over 60 of Canada’s finest female chefs – all gathered in support of Willow’s free programs and services.

Highlighted as one of Toronto’s top 10 events by BizBash magazine, Eat to the Beat has raised more than $3.1 million for Willow.

This year we are focusing on locally grown, sustainable, seasonal foods and will include “The County Chicks” with the best chefs, cheese makers, farmers and winemakers from the Prince Edward County region.

Over 23,600 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Canada every year. From the individual diagnosed, to their family, friends and caregivers, Willow provides free support and information today for those who cannot wait for tomorrow’s cure.

By supporting Willow’s Eat to the Beat, you improve the quality of life for breast cancer patients and their friends and family today. Together we will make sure no one needs to face breast cancer alone."

The Hunter for Tour de Dufflet!

We're getting our grand prizes together and sorting through Tour de Dufflet photos, and wanted to share this one via email from Eunah Hunter ... thank you so much for the kind words Eunah!

Dear Dufflet,

Thank you for a wonderful time and treat for our family of three and friends.  We had a wonderful time cycling 80km today and sampling the delicious treats.  Your staff were welcoming and each Dufflet store was a point of relaxation and excitement for our legs and stomachs, respectively

:)  What a great idea to offer the Tour de Dufflet and to keep the commemorative event, in celebration of bike month, continuing for a fourth year.  Fabulous.

Toronto Taste attracted culinary personalities from across the country, including, Food Network Canada personalities Celebrity Chef Roger Mooking (Everyday Exotic), Michael Smith (Chef at Home, Chef at Large, Chef Abroad) and Mark McEwan (Top Chef Canada, The Heat). Dishes were also prepared by acclaimed chefs such as J.P. We will offer refreshments to registered participants at all locations. To drink, you will have your choice of bottled water or regular coffee. To nibble, you will have a choice from that day’s brownies or something savoury (a spanokopita or samosa). Daily selections will vary.

At the final location (stamp #3) you will hand in your stamped passport to be eligible for the grand prize drawing at the end of bike month, plus you will receive a gift certificate for $5 off your next Dufflet purchase as a reward for completing the Tour de Dufflet 2011!
