hero for a day, hero for a month!

.

.
Dufflet Pastries is proud to participate again in Second Harvest's workplace fundraising initiative to help feed Toronto's hungry.

This year's event (formerly called Lunch Money Day) takes place on February 13 and has evolved into Second Harvest Hero Day.

from their website http://secondharvesthero.ca/
"...Every day we’re faced with the injustice of good food going to waste while people go hungry. By being a Second Harvest Hero you can help us rescue excess food, that would otherwise go to waste, and deliver it to hungry people in need across Toronto.

Get involved by signing up your workplace to raise funds, volunteering, making a donation or joining us on February 13 as we spread the word about food rescue in TTC stations and PATH locations across the city."

All 3 Dufflet cafes will be involved, and from February 1-28 (yes, a whole month!) we will donate $1 from the sale of our amazing Cowboy Cookies (price $1.80 each)

So go ahead, be a hero - it looks good on you!

Daily Bread Ultimate Food Challenge 2012

.
Daily Bread invites you to experience a sublime culinary adventure as they kick off their inaugural Ultimate Food Challenge event presented by Campbell’s on Wednesday, May 2, 2012.

Join our crowd of taste-leaders for a well-deserved after-work cocktail with friends as you watch the action ringside. Whet your appetite with gourmet appetizers prepared by Daily Bread’s Catering Kitchen, enjoy the hospitality provided by graduates and trainees of the Food Services Training Program (run by Daily Bread), and observe the creative process of some the most talented chefs in Toronto.

See who rises to the top as Chefs Nick auf der Mauer, Steve Gonzalez, and Rob Rossi battle it out to win the taste buds of our judges. Watch as our Chefs whip the contents of an ordinary food bank hamper box into palatable art. Sample their signature dishes and let your stomach decide who wins the way to your heart. Toast the winner with a little bubbly by Barefoot Wine & Bubbly or kick back with a cold one by Beau’s All Natural Brewing Co., indulge your sweet tooth with a little chocolate by Ferrero Rocher and dessert by Dufflet.

Ultimate Food Challenge is Daily Bread’s largest signature fundraising event of the year. All proceeds benefit Daily Bread’s programs to help thousands of families in Toronto who need your help in the fight against hunger in our city.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 2, 2012
6:30 – 9:30 p.m.

talking about taste ...

.
Sunday's 20th annual Toronto Taste 2010 benefit blended delicious foods + bevvies with new + old friends in a drive to raise funds to support Second Harvest.

Dufflet Pastries has been one of the event's food sponsors right from the start and this year's dessert offering was a (very popular!) mini Strawberry Dacquoise with Cocoa Hazelnut Meringue. The Dufflet table was manned by Dufflet Rosenberg and Heather Chu (Dufflet Small Indulgences brand manager).

Part of the fun (asides from the constant noshing) is meeting other chefs ... and fun photo ops! Here's The Queen of Cake standing next to (or should I say, kinda under?) Michael Smith (Canadian chef and writer, host of a number of shows that have appeared on the Food Network Canada).
